Local entrepreneurs attend two-day Rave Ignite bootcamp

KUCHING: Rave Ventures Sdn. Bhd, a subsidiary of MyNef Foundation Malaysia, collaborated with iCube Innovation Sdn. Bhd to hold a two-day bootcamp called Rave Ignite at the latter’s office in Icom Square last Friday and Saturday.
The participants for the Rave Ignite Kuching Bootcamp consisted of players across the Sarawak startups scene, including SueJC – a local e-commerce fashion house which incorporates traditional Sarawak based elements into mainstream fashion products.
Other startups which participated included Flytech Worming Up which aims to help protect the nature by utilizing worms from leftover food products as animal feed, Nyengnyeng Food App that aims to further promote Sarawak delicacies to tourists & CG Pill, a disposable power bank device that is affordable for the users on the go.
At the bootcamp, the participants were filled in with the latest business and startups methodologies and they were encouraged to test out the business models in order to achieve ‘Product Market Fit’.
The purpose of the Rave Ignite Kuching Bootcamp was to find eligible startups from Sarawak to enter Rave Accelerator Batch 5 to be held from July to December in Kuala Lumpur.
The Rave Accelerator is a 6-month intense business startup acceleration programme run by Rave Ventures Sdn. Bhd since 2014.
Notable startups that are among Rave Accelerator alumni is the New York Times featured Halal Speed Dating which is the Halal version of Tinder, Laundry on the Go (laundry service on demand and BluBear Pads (a social enterprise that is helping underprivileged girls to attend schools by providing washable sanitary pads).
Rave Ventures Sdn. Bhd is also an active Pre Seed level investment company in the Malaysian startups scene, where it usually invests in the range of RM 25 000 to RM 250 000, in return for the startups equity.
